We have a confession to make. For a brief moment sometime last month, our store was transported to an alternate universe and became the scene for an epic battle between Spidey and some monstrously villainous thugs. Have no fear though, everything’s back in order now.
Evidence you say? Why, check out the other-worldly webbing the store brought back with it.
If you just won’t buy that story then delude yourself with this one:
Constellation is an installation made entirely out of twenty spools of white thread meticulously pulled and gunned down by a sea of staples. By repeating the seemingly mundane task of weaving the threads around each other continuously, a beautiful geometric framework resembling that of a spider’s web emerges, inspiring meditative contemplation for both the viewer and the artist.
“For the installation I was experimenting with layering and using a two dimensional object to fill up a huge space. I find beauty in repetition, and order has a way of finding itself within chaos. I like how this as a whole overwhelms the space as the lines seem to wrap and shoot outward in various directions from the centre, but up close they are made out of fine thread, easily breakable.”
Tingzhi is a 2nd year fashion student from Central Saint Martins and her installation at Blackmarket will run till the 10th of September.
